What a Summer on the Waterfront Looks Like
As a Geneva waterfront staffer, you'll live at camp and spend your days where the fun is: the pool, Big Pine Lake, and the Lake Michigan shore.
You'll guard swim times and help kids feel at home in the water, then head over to Challenge Island to belay climbers, send campers down the zip line, and help them get the best airtime on the blob. It's an active, sun-and-water job, and it carries the same purpose the rest of camp shares: pointing kids toward Jesus.
Bring your lifeguard certification and a love for Jesus and kids. We'll teach you the rest, from the challenge course to the camp program.
Open Lifeguard Positions
We hire one waterfront role that covers both the water and the challenge course. Whatever the day holds, you'll keep campers safe while sharing Christ's love with them. Applicants must hold a current lifeguard certification.
Waterfront/Challenge staff (or Watcha) lifeguard at the pool, Big Pine Lake, and Lake Michigan, watching over swim times all summer. When they're off the stand, they're on Challenge Island, belaying climbers, sending campers down the zip line, and helping them get the best airtime on the blob. If you love the water and want a summer that keeps you moving, this is the role. Applicants must be lifeguard certified.

Dates
Orientation and training runs June 1 to 13, 2027. Summer camp runs June 14 to August 21, 2027. Our full summer lasts for eleven and a half weeks. We can work with you to give you some time off over the summer if needed.
Pay and What’s Covered
First-year staff earn $375 per week and returning staff earn $385 per week. Training is paid, and housing and meals are covered all summer. You'll live on site from the first day of training through the last week of camp.
Who Can Apply
You need to be at least 18 by the first day of training and hold a current lifeguard certification.
What We're Looking For in a Lifeguard
We want waterfront staff who love Jesus and can't wait to share that with campers, who stay calm and alert on the water, and who bring energy to the zip line and the blob. Past that, we hire a team of different personalities, majors, and hometowns, because every camper should be able to find a staff member they click with. A current lifeguard certification. That's the one thing you'll need in hand before the summer starts.
No. If you've never belayed a climber or run a zip line, that's fine. We'll train you on Challenge Island during orientation. You bring the lifeguard certification, and we'll teach you the rest.
Don't worry, while working on the challenge team will be your main focus, you'll live in and will help lead a cabin making sure that you get opportunities to partake in all camp games, Bible studies, and much more!
