  • ASSUMPTION OF RISK: Individuals with preexisting conditions such as cardiovascular disease, respiratory disease including asthma, diabetes, and immunocompromised are at an increased risk of severe illness if COVID-19 is contracted. I understand that any pre-existing illness increases the implied risk of COVID-19.

    The health and safety of conference participants and guests is a priority for GENEVA Camp & Retreat Center. In light of the COVID-19 pandemic, GENEVA Camp & Retreat Center has strengthened its standard cleaning procedures, while adding increased frequency measures for things such as wiping down common touch points, dining hall areas, and activity equipment. Additionally, GENEVA Camp & Retreat Center asks guest groups to agree to measures that monitor and address symptomatic guests by daily temperature checks, and protocols to isolate, confirm, respond, and remove any guest in their group with suspected COVID-19.

    GENEVA Camp & Retreat Center will adapt and adjust protocols and procedures in an effort to help keep guests safe. Ultimately, the choice for you or your minor to attend a meeting, conference or retreat at GENEVA Camp & Retreat Center is a personal one, and you are in control. If you are uncomfortable with the risks of COVID-19 in a meeting, conference or retreat setting or having you or your minor interact with GENEVA Camp & Retreat Center staff, you may opt for you or your minor to not attend.

    WAIVER AND GENERAL RELEASE OF LIABILITY AND HOLD HARMELSS: In consideration for the opportunity to attend GENEVA Camp & Retreat Center and participate in its activities, I on behalf of myself and the minor for whom I am the parent or guardian waive and release GENEVA Camp & Retreat Center, its staff, board members, officers, directors, employees, volunteers, and agents from all liability of any kind arising from or related to transportation to and from and attendance at GENEVA Camp & Retreat Center or participation in its activities. I understand and agree that this release includes but is not limited to any claims based on the actions, omissions, or negligence of GENEVA Camp & Retreat Center, its employees, agents, and representatives, and whether a COVID-19 infection occurs before, during, or after participation in any meeting, conference or retreat. This is intended to be interpreted as a broad, general waiver and release. I accept personal financial responsibility for any injury or other loss sustained by my minor or me during meeting, conference or retreat activities or during transportation to and from the activities. I further agree to indemnify and hold GENEVA Camp & Retreat Center, its staff, board members, officers, directors, employees, volunteers, and agents harmless from liability for all claims for personal injury, death, or property damage of any kind made by me, my family members, the minor for whom I am the parent or guardian or their successors, whether such injury, death or damage arises out of the acts, omissions or negligence of GENEVA Camp & Retreat Center, its staff, board members, officers, directors, employees, volunteers, or agents.

    ARBITRATION: If a dispute over this agreement or any claim for damages arises, the matter is to be resolved through a mutually acceptable alternative dispute resolution process. If no agreement is reached on that process, the dispute must be submitted to a three-member arbitration panel for resolution in accordance with the rules of the American Arbitration Association. The location for any arbitration proceedings shall be in Ottawa County, Michigan. The laws of the State of Michigan shall govern the substantive rights of the parties. Such arbitration shall be final and binding. By agreeing to arbitration, the right to seek remedies in court, including but not limited to the right to a jury trial, is being waived. Any award issued in connection with the arbitration may be confirmed by any state or federal court of competent jurisdiction.
